2. Down, down, down
The Rabbit disappeared into a hole beneath a hedge. Alice followed, and the ground dipped away. Down she floated, so slowly that she could look at shelves along the walls. A leaf turned beside her. At last, she landed softly on a rustling pile of leaves.
Carved wooden rings open into a deep-looking rabbit hole behind Alice. Tiny chairs and a closed book drift inside it, while a leaf turns downward when touched. The other garden toys remain in place.
3. The smallest door
Alice found herself in a hall of locked doors. On a glass table lay a golden key. It fitted a tiny door behind a curtain. Beyond it was a garden full of flowers. Alice knelt and peeped through, but even her shoulders were much too wide.
A golden wooden key rests near Alice and an ornate small door. Touching the key turns it and opens the door a little. The Rabbit, mushrooms, tea table, and cards stay arranged around the garden.
4. Which size is Alice?
A little bottle made Alice shrink. A crumb of cake made her stretch tall. “My feet have gone a very long way away!” she said. One more tiny sip, and she was small enough. With the key safe in her pocket, she stepped through the door.
Touching the little bottle tips it and makes Alice uniformly smaller beside the open garden door. The Rabbit, mushrooms, key, table, and cards keep their familiar sizes.
5. A mushroom conversation
In a wood beyond the garden, a blue Caterpillar sat on a mushroom. He explained that one side could make Alice taller and the other shorter. Alice tried a little of each until she could see over the grass again. “That is a very useful mushroom,” she said.
Small Alice stands near a broad painted mushroom. Touching its cap tilts the mushroom and restores Alice to her familiar size, with the surrounding garden toys still in place.
6. Tea at any time
Under a tree, the Hatter and the March Hare sat at a long tea table. A Dormouse dozed between them. They asked Alice a riddle, but neither knew the answer. Then everyone moved to a fresh cup. “What a puzzling tea party!” Alice said, and followed the garden path.
Alice stands beside a garden tea table with a teapot and three cups. Touching the table lifts the cups and saucers one after another. The Rabbit, mushrooms, small door, and cards remain nearby.
7. A flutter of cards
In the garden, playing cards marched behind the Queen of Hearts. Soon Alice was in a court where everyone talked at once. The questions grew sillier and sillier. Alice stood straight. “You are only cards!” she said. Up flew the whole pack, fluttering around her like leaves.
Five oversized wooden playing cards lift and flutter at different heights when touched. Alice stands nearby, with the Rabbit, mushrooms, door, and tea table still visible in the same garden.
8. Back by the river
A leaf brushed Alice’s cheek. She opened her eyes. The cards, the court, and the curious little doors were gone. Her sister sat beside her on the riverbank. “I have such a dream to tell you,” Alice said. And she began with a rabbit who carried a watch.
A single leaf drifts down beside Alice when touched. The Rabbit, mushrooms, little door, tea table, and cards remain together as a quiet garden scene on the open book.
Choose your favorite puzzling moment. What would you ask the Rabbit or the Hatter? You could invent a tiny door and draw the place you would find beyond it.
